Stephen Burnell, Director of Business Transformation at VT Flagship was named as the ‘European Quality Leader of the Year’ by the European Organization for Quality (EOQ) in 2008. Last year when Steve won the UK’s top accolade for Quality Leadership – the Chartered Quality Institute’s ‘UK Quality Leader of the Year’ award.

Tito Conti is the President of the International Academy for Quality.
Tito Conti ‘s main activities today are in the areas of Public Administration advising, research, teaching and writing in quality management – and promoting quality internationally.
Tito was President of the EOQ in 1992-1994, and he is now an Honorary Member.

Signe Ratso is Director in DG TRADE of the European Commission. She has been at the lead of Estonia's economic reforms and Estonia's accession to the EU. During Estonia's accession negotiations she was responsible for negotiating 6 economic chapters. She has been supporting the development of quality infrastructure in Estonia and was the Chairperson of the Board of Estonia's Quality Association.

J.M. Buiting is currently Director of the Knowledge and Innovation Department CBO (Dutch Institute for Quality Improvement in Health Care). Also, he is a board member of various Dutch sports organisations, President of the Dutch Federation for Laboratory Medicine and member of the regional parliament. Marius was the President and Fellow of the de European Society for Quality in Healthcare (ESQH).

Bertrand Jouslin de Noray was the Secretary General of the European Organization for Quality (EOQ). Before joining EOQ in 1998, Bertrand spent 10 years within the French Movement for Quality where he was in charge of the development of the French Quality Award. He was the director of the first magazine on quality in France and a member of the committee “Research in Quality” at the governmental level.
Bertrand also wrote the history of the world quality movement, "Traité de la Qualité totale", published in 4 languages and is co-author of another book on quality.

Professor Shoji Shiba is an internationally renowned quality guru. He is professor emeritus at the University of Tsukuba, Japan and advisory professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. He was also the adjunct and visiting professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1990 to 2004.
As an international expert in TQM, Shoji has been disseminating the practices and methodologies of TQM in many countries. He introduced TQM to Hungarian industries and in 1988, the Hungarian Ministry of Industry established the annual IIASA-SHIBA Award in order to promote TQM activities. In 2002, he was awarded the Deming Prize for Individuals.

Jean-François Zobrist, since 1971, is the director of FAVI (Copper Alloy Pressure Die-casting), a smelter plant landed in a field in Picardy, near Hallencourt, France. Favi was the first such plant in Europe to have the ISO 14001 certificate. Noting that there is no happiness without performance, and no happiness without responsibility, he decided to empower the workers and eliminate managerial hierarchy. In Favi, they work without structure, rules or control, but they have values and a common dream. Jean-François developed a  methodology for management and quality which made Favi the market leader in very difficult circumstances.

Surinder Kapur is the chairman of the Sona Group which he set up from scratch in 1987. Today the Sona Group is a powerful industrial conglomerate which has 4,000 people working globally. His challenge is to create enough excitement and motivation in these people to reshape the Sona Group into an innovative company. Sona Koyo is the recipient of the prestigious 2003 Deming Award and the TPM Excellence Award, 2008.
Surinder also received the TERI Corporate Award for Environmental Excellence. for the year 2006-2007. Kapur currently serves as the Chairman of the Mission on Innovation in Manufacturing in India.

Katarina Gaži Pavelić is a senior project manager at Podravka d.d., one of the largest food companies in Croatia. She is an EOQ Quality Systems Manager and Auditor and a Wifi trainer for marketing management and quality. Katarina is Podravka’s appointed member in the Board of Directors of the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development, active member of the Croatian Quality Managers Association and the Croatian Society for Quality.

Charles Aubrey is currently Vice-President, Performance Excellence, and is a Master Black Belt at Anderson Pharmaceutical Packaging. He was formerly President, and is now Chairman, of the Asia Pacific Quality Organization, and their Representative to the World Alliance for Quality. Yoshinori Iizuka is the Professor at the School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo, Japan. His research has focused on quality management, including TQM, ISO 9000, structured knowledge engineering, healthcare, social system engineering, software quality, and nuclear safety.
He was awarded the Deming Prize for Individuals in 2006.

Satoko Tsuru is the Professor at the School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo, Japan. After graduating from the School of Medicine at Hiroshima University, Satoko Tsuru engaged in research and education as a research assistant, lecturer and associate professor there. Her research has focused on quality management for healthcare, healthcare informatics, and public health.

Masahiko Munechika is the Professor at the School of Science and Engineering, Waseda University, Japan. His research has been focused on quality management and statistical analysis, including TQM, sentiment quality, healthcare quality, and management diagnosis. He is now a board member of JSQC and the chief editor of the Journal of JSQC. He is also a member of the Deming Application Prize Committee.

Rogério Puga-Leal is the Professor of Industrial Engineering at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the New University of Lisbon, Portugal. He has been developing research in the Quality Engineering field for more than twenty years at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the New University of Lisbon.

Kostas N. Dervitsiotis is the Professor Emeritus at the University Of Piraeus, Greece. He was the Founder and Director of the European Master’s in Total Quality Management, Chairman of the European Master’s Academic Board and its Executive Committee, and a member of its EFQM Advisory Board.
He has written six books and published more than 15 journal articles.

Dora Gonçalo works as Certification and Auditors Director at APCER, the main Portuguese certification body, being responsible for Process Coordination of the Certification Decision, Auditors Management, and Training and Partnerships Management. She is also a trainer in the fields of quality and environmental management systems and audits, management tools and management systems certification.

Milan Hutyra is Quality manager of VSB-Technical University of Ostrava and associate professor in the Department of Quality Management at the Faculty of Metallurgy and Material Engineering in Ostrava-Poruba, Czech Republic
Milan Hutyra has been awarded numerous certificates and awards for quality. They include the “EOQ Quality Systems Manager” personal certificate; 2002 and 2006 finalist of the “Czech Quality Leader Award”, and the Agnes Zaludova Award from the Czech Society for Quality.

Gopal K. Kanji is the Director of Kanji Quality Culture Ltd., Emeritus Professor of applied statistics at Sheffield Hallam University, UK
He has been appointed President of the European Society for Organizational Excellence, Vice-President of the International Foundation for Customer Focus, and visiting professor at Leicester University. He is also Vice-President of IAQ.
In 2002 the American Society for Quality awarded professor Kanji the prestigious Grant Medal for his contribution to Quality.

Paulo Sampaio is Researcher and Professor in the Systems and Production Department, University of Minho, Portugal. He is also the R&D Consultant in several companies. Paulo received a PhD in Systems and Production Engineering at University of Minho, in 2008. In the Student Technical Paper Competition, during the American Society for Quality World Conference, Paulo was awarded with the “Best Paper Presented” award in 2006 (1st place) and 2008 (3rd place).

Renato Filjar is an electrical engineer and satellite navigation specialist. He is a senior research engineer at Ericsson Nikola Tesla d. d., and a lecturer at Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, Croatia, Faculty of Maritime Studies, University of Rijeka, Croatia, and Polytechnic of Bjelovar, Bjelovar, Croatia. with a PhD in electrical engineering from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at the University of Zagreb.

Juhani Anttila is an independent Finnish expert, Venture Knowledgist, Quality Integration, and international academician for quality (IAQ). He was the chairman of the criteria committee of the Finnish National Quality Award, and Assessor of the European Quality Award (EFQM). Juhani was also Vice President of the EOQ. He is a honorary member of the Finnish Society for Quality.

H. Dieter Seghezzi is professor emeritus of the University of St. Gallen (HSG) Switzerland  and an Academician of the International Academy for Quality. He founded the Institute for Technology Management (ITEM-HSG) in 1988. He is founder of the Swiss Association for Quality- and Management-Systems (SQS). He was President of the European Organization for Quality EOQ (1986-1988) and Member of the Founding Committee of the European Foundation for Quality Management EFQM (1988).

Sustainable Development Foundation and Member of the Board of the
International Academy for Quality.  He is a Member of the Board of the
Brazilian Group of Companies Odebrecht S.A., with nearly 100,000 Members
operating worldwide, mainly in Engineering and in Petrochemicals.  He is
the Founder and President Emeritus since 2005 of the Hospitality Institute
Foundation, and former Chairman of the Competitive Brazil Movement (MBC).

George Bohoris is the Professor in Total Quality Management and MBA TQM Director at the Department of Business Administration, University of Piraeus, Greece. He is the EUN TQM Chairman and a member of the Greek National Council for Quality.

Ana Stavljenić-Rukavina is the professor at the Zagreb University School of Medicine and since 2002 a visiting professor at the University of Trieste. In 2006 she was elected a full member of the World Academy for Art and Sciences. The same year she was awarded the «Rudjer Boskovic» award for her scientific contribution, and the lifetime award from the Croatian Society for Medical Biochemistry for her contribution to the profession development.

Nina N. Aniskina is the rector of the “State Academy of Industrial Management N.P. Pastuchov” in Jaroslav, Russia. She is the president of the regional “Club of Professionals in Quality”. Nina Aniskina has been awarded numerous certificates and diplomas for quality. They include the 2003 diplomas, “The person of The Year” for her great contribution to the implementation of the QMS in the enterprises of Yaroslavl region; and “Russian Leader in Quality”.

Joyce Nilsson Orsini is the President of the Board, and Associate Trustee, of the W. Edwards Deming Institute, and Director of The Deming Scholars MBA Program at Fordham University Graduate School of Business. She has received numerous honours, including the American Society for Quality Deming Medal for 1995, and the Gladys and Henry Crown Award for Faculty Excellence.

Marijan Jošt is the retired scientific adviser and professor at Agricultural College Križevci, Croatia. He is the author of several high quality wheat cultivars, one of them Croatia’s best quality wheat 'Divana'. He is the president of the “Croatian society for organic agriculture, environment protection and health improvement - 'BIOS'”.

Okrepilov is the General Director of the federal government institution "' The Centre for Testing and Certification - St. Petersburg" .Prof. Okrepilov is, among other, the President of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russia's Academy for Quality Problems, Vice-president of the Academy for Metrology, Deputy Chairman of Interdepartmental Northwest Coordinating Council for Basic and Applied Research under RAS, Vice-president of the Science & Engineering Council under St.-Petersburg Government. He is also the author of more than 300 publications.

Tatiana E. Fedoseeva is the professor at the “State Academy of Industrial Management N.P. Pastuchov” in Jaroslav, Russia. She has taken part in more than 20 QMS projects and has prepared three faculties of the “Ural State University for Teachers Training” for the QMS certification. Tatiana is the EOQ Quality Manager.

Eugenia Obodkova is the Head of the Sociology and Psychology department at the “State Academy of Industrial Management N.P. Pastuchov” in Jaroslav, Russia. She is also a member of the International Academy of Psychological Sciences. Eugenia was the winner of the 4th International Contest “Image-territory 2008” (Moscow, Russia). She is also a trainer in the field of quality management systems.

Jasminka Samardžija is currently completing her PhD thesis in Business Excellence Models which she sees as a useful framework for improving competitive advantage of Croatian companies. She also lectures at the School of Economics in Zagreb, Croatia.

Petro Kalyta is the President of the Ukrainian Association for Quality, Director of the Inter branch Quality Center “PRIROST”, the Head of the European Center of Supporting of Movement for Quality and Excellence, President of the Quality Leaders Club of the Central and Eastern European Countries. Petro is an Academician of the Russian Academy of Quality Problems and Academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. He has been rewarded with Diplomas of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Presidium of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the European Organization for Quality (EOQ)

Elena Belkova is the EOQ Quality Systems Manager and Auditor since 2005. She is an experienced consultant for development and implementation of QMS, EMS since 2003. Elena is also an expert in training and education methods for adults. She teaches: Quality Management Systems based on ISO standards, auditing of QMS, development of process models, management of projects; management psychology, personnel motivation, business communications, time management and another.

Alexander Linczényi, CSc., acts in quality management system sphere 50 years. He is author of 9 monographs and 120 scientific and professional articles. He has been a private consultant for QMS for many years. Alexander has been the EOQ Council member for seventeen years and the EOQ vice-president for four years. Also, he was the president of the Czechoslovak committee for quality for 15 years, as well as the president of the Slovak committee for quality (for 10 years). He initiated the education of quality engineering at the Slovak technical universities.

Teresa Correia de Lacerda is an economist and effective member of the Portuguese Association of Economists. She is currently the President of EWMD Portugal, a non-profit organization for developing management competencies and skills in women, which are required to empower them to become more active members of our society and to gain the necessary confidence to become leaders in the community. She is coordinating a Portuguese project, which aims to design a special framework for organizations implementing corporate social responsibility at strategic level.

Davorin Kralj acts as counselor in the areas of business and entrepreneurship - special advising, research, and teaching in environmental management – and promoting sustainable development. He has been awarded numerous certificates and awards. In 2008, Davorin was distinguished with the silver award  during the China Association of Inventions and IFIA -International Federation of Inventors' Associations, the silver award during the International Jury of IENA 2008 and award of the Best Eco Inventor during the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization), Slovenj Gradec, Geneva.

Jasna Mesarić is, since 2007, president of the Croatian Society for Quality Improvement in Health Care, Croatian Medical Association. Her academic and professional interests include all aspects of the clinical transfusion medicine and setting strategies for better clinical use of blood. Through the years she has been active and involved in a wide range of issues and initiatives associated with the development of the national accreditation system and quality healthcare improvement.

She is responsible for the development of new systems and personnel certification products as well as for research co operations. Previously Anni had served as President of the University of Applied Sciences and founded and developed a Research centre for multimedia and learning.

Silvio Rubbia is president and founder of Gramma, an Italian strategic house since 1978. As management consultant and professor he has worked with the largest organizations on strategy and organization problems. His current work is cantered on economic and quality metrics.

Jury Vasilkov is the Vice rector (Research and Information Systems) of the “State Academy of Industrial Management N.P. Pastuchov” in Jaroslav, Russia. Also, he is a member of the Russian Academy of Quality Issues. Jury is an EOQ quality systems and environment auditor (Quality Austria and Cro-Сert).
